Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca (1914-….)
Audience I am halim the Third, majestic and sacred, King of Kings. When my white hands move, My subjects come upon their mornings.
The moments I conquer carry my lust To unknown virgins time and again; I discovered time in the golden pleasure Of my enduring reign.
Along my wisdom they stretch, All the world’s dimensions, Comfort flows from my body Into ky palaces and stately mansions.
In legion with the mighty eagles, I set science, poetry, and victory free So that generations to come May rejoice on land and sea (Translated by Talat Sait Halman, 101Poems by 101Poets An Anthology of Turkish Poetry)
