[The images were taken January
10 - 13, 2000, as part of the activities to recommission the earth-orbiting
telescope. The pictures are a culmination of the successful Space Shuttle
servicing mission (STS-103) last December, which restored NASA's premier optical
space observatory to full capability beefed-up with new electronics and
critically needed replacement gyroscopes. Hubble has now resumed probing the
Universe's many mysteries with a crystal-clear view.] (hubblesite.org)

Kedi gözü nebulası.
[Hubble
reveals surprisingly intricate structures including concentric gas shells, jets
of high-speed gas, and unusual shock-induced knots of gas. Estimated to be 1,000
years old, the nebula is a visual "fossil record" of the dynamics and late
evolution of a dying star.] (hubblesite.org)

Kuğu Nebulası, yerküremize 5000
ışık yılı uzaklıkta bulunuyor.
[Discovered
by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux in 1745-46. The Omega Nebula M17, also called the
Swan Nebula, the Horseshoe Nebula, or (especially on the southern hemisphere)
the Lobster Nebula, is a region of star formation and shines by excited emission,
caused by the higher energy radiation of young stars. Unlike in many other
emission nebulae, however, these stars are not obvious in optical images, but
hidden in the nebula. Star formation is either still active in this nebula, or
ceased very recently. A small cluster of about 35 bright but obscurred stars
seems to be imbedded in the nebulosity.]

Güneş sistemimizin içinde
bulunduğu Samanyolu galaksisinden bir yıldızın görünüşü

Trifid Nebulası. gezegenimiz
Dünya'dan dokuz bin ışık yılı uzaklıktadır.
[This
Hubble telescope image of the Trifid Nebula reveals a stellar nursery being torn
apart by radiation from a nearby, massive star. The picture also provides a peek
at embryonic stars forming within an ill-fated cloud of dust and gas, which is
destined to be eaten away by the glare from the massive neighbor. This stellar
activity is a beautiful example of how the life cycles of stars like our Sun are
intimately connected with their more powerful siblings.] (hubblesite.org)
